Brendan Paddick is the Chief Executive Officer of Columbus Communications Inc. and its operating subsidiaries, Cable Bahamas Limited, Cable Trinidad Limited, FibraLink Jamaica Limited, New World Network, Ltd. and Columbus Communications Jamaica Limited. Columbus, Cable Trinidad, FibraLink, New World Network and Columbus Jamaica are private companies, while Cable Bahamas trades publicly on the Bahamas Securities Exchange.
Mr. Paddick was the President & Chief Executive Officer of Persona Inc. and Persona Communications Inc. until August 2004. Persona is in the business of providing cable television, digital cable, high speed Internet, commercial data and telecom services to a diverse base of residential and commercial customers in seven Canadian provinces. Persona operated in excess of 650 cable television headends in more than 1,200 communities across Canada. He has extensive experience in constructing and operating world-class terrestrial and submarine broadband networks. Persona, was the largest and controlling shareholder of Cable Bahamas Ltd., and as such, also provided similar services throughout the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
Mr. Paddick has extensive capital market experience. Since 1995, Mr. Paddick has played an instrumental role in both Persona’s and Columbus’ success at raising close to $2.5 Billion in debt and equity financing through transactions ranging from the initial public offerings, private placements of debentures, rights offerings, private equity placements, syndicated banking facilities, subordinated debt and preferred share offerings.
Brendan Paddick was born and raised in Grand Falls, Newfoundland, Canada. He holds both a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration from Memorial University of Newfoundland. In 2000, he graduated from the prestigious Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard University in Boston, Harvard’s global executive MBA program.
In addition to sitting on Columbus’ and Cable Bahamas’ boards, Mr. Paddick is a member of the board of directors and the audit committee of Clearwater Seafoods Income Fund, a publicly traded company on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX:CLR.UN). He is also a member of the board of directors of the Caribbean Cable Television Coop. In the past, Mr. Paddick served for three years on the Board of Directors of Fishery Products International Limited (TSX:FPL), where he was the Chair of the Growth and Investments Committee. Brendan served as a Member of the Board of Regents of Memorial University of Newfoundland for six years and was also a member of Industry Canada’s National Broadband Task Force in 2001, a government initiative to shape the country’s roll out of ubiquitous broadband access.
Mr. Paddick was recently named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 by the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business Magazine. The Canada's Top 40 Under 40TM is a national program founded honor Canadians leaders who have reached a significant level of success but have not yet reached the age of 40. He has also been named one of Atlantic Canada's Top 50 CEO's by Atlantic Business Magazine on three occasions, and was Memorial University’s Faculty of Business Alumnus of the Year for 2002.
Mr. Paddick is a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of The Bahamas and resides with his wife, Renee, in Freeport, Bahamas. They have three children ranging in ages 13 to 19 years old.
